solid.grey.spaces.volume.two was the thirty eighth catalogue release. it is available in digital format.

it should be stated immediately that this is not music. or, maybe it's “music”.

often when working in the studio, i like to establish some kind of looping atmosphere as a background sound, then start constructing around it. i let them run for long periods of time usually, once i get something that i like, muting and adjusting the volume as needed in the moment. mostly they don’t make it into the song itself, but occasionally they do.

having built up a pretty sizeable library of recordings of these things, i thought it might be kind of interesting to make them available for other people to use. obviously this won’t appeal to most people. so to make it a bit more listenable, i kept most of the individual tracks reasonably short. otherwise, they just go on and on and you get the idea.

if you’re a creative type, you can use these loops for your own projects (whatever those may be). one simple way to maintain your sanity: try separating the files into two mono files, then find the loop points (or make your own!). arrange in whatever way makes sense. it's also worth mentioning that there is no master bus compression here, so the dynamics may arouse or annoy you. please drop me a line if any of this is useful in some creative endeavor, i'd like to check that out.

ps, i think my track naming game has never been more on point than it was here.
