for me, back in the early nineties, life was a simpler and more focused affair. wake up, go to school (or don’t), make music all day and night, rinse, repeat. every minute was an exploration and the experiments were many, most of them failures, but with enough occasional success as to make the entire endeavour worth pursuing.

in my mid to late teens, i had amassed just enough music equipment to get some primitive songs put together and basically make a bunch of unlistenable noise; i could record things to cassette and play them back, and every day see some miniscule improvement in the overall output. thus, many many things (i hesitate to call them ‘songs’) were recorded and eventually i got the confidence to start a “band” with some likeminded individuals and move things in a more serious direction. this took me on many new adventures and led to some life changing experiences along the way. no complaints.

a few years ago, a box of my old cassettes turned up and i have spent some time curating the best of the music that came from that period of time. the work on offer here is very rough, but has some endearing qualities that i enjoy. armed at the time with just a few synths, one very lame sampler, and a couple of rackmount effects, recording things live to cassette decks, i was surprised that some of the material was still somewhat listenable, even if it did take some editing and mastering work to really get it to shine. these recordings were all made in the period from 1992 - 1994, so i hope you’ll enjoy this trip back in time with me, as much as i’ve enjoyed recompiling all the work. this is the second of the dream.factory.editions series.

ps, i kept the runtime to 45min so you can totally dub it onto one side of a C90 tape. maybe you can put sonic youth or the jesus lizard on the other side for some contrast ;)
